Well, I got an e-mail this week from the casino people for whom I'm dealing. It said they were in desperate need of Craps dealers for this weekend's various events, and that they were going to be conducting a training session Friday night. Since I had expressed interest previously, this woman was wondering if I would be interested. Well, yes, I thought, though I suspected it wouldn't be as much fun to deal as, say Blackjack. It pays 25% more, but I'm not really doing this for the money. Anyway, I was just floored by the experience! The training was difficult enough, but that was with one trainer and about 6 or 7 trainees, of various skill levels. But none of the trainees were like "Joe Craps" or anything. Now imagine with like a dozen players, all winning and losing and talking to you and handing you their bets and asking you questions and doing this and doing that and so on and so forth, all at the same time. And even when you think you've got a handle on how to play the game, I can assure you, things look a whole lot different on the other side of the table! Well, the company promises that they won't put any Craps newbies on a table without an experienced "co-dealer" with them. Well thank Neptune for that! Though I really had to feel bad for the guy that got stuck with me.
So, perhaps I'll do it again, perhaps not. I mean, I still prefer BJ to Craps, (umm...no, don't go there...), but I'm the type of guy that will likely wind up going where I'm needed. So finally, I just wanted to raise a toast to the guys who do this regularly...and with real money - hear hear!
